What is FIRE?

FIRE is an economic term for Finansiell Uafhængighed, Gå på Pension Tidligt. It is an economic strategy that involves saving and investing as much as possible in the early years of your working life for financial freedom.

The FIRE strategy is based on the assumption that you can live off your investments and pension income instead of working your entire life.

A FIRE number of 25x means you need to save 25 times your annual expense for financial freedom.

Withdrawal rule

The withdrawal rule is an economic rule that says you should withdraw 4% of your savings annually to preserve your capital and earn on investments.

This is a good strategy to avoid having to work your entire life.

It is important to remember that the withdrawal rule is a rough estimate and you may need to adjust it based on your specific circumstances.

Nordic FIRE

Nordic FIRE is a variant of FIRE that is popular in Nordic countries. It is based on the same basic principles as FIRE, but has some specific characteristics that are adapted to the Nordic economy.

A Nordic FIRE strategy means that you save and invest more than 50% of your income in the early years of your working life for financial freedom.

This can include saving and investing in both real estate and stocks, which gives you flexibility and the opportunity to live off your income in the early years.
